our story, by Anthony Fogleman
I love all the aspects of this business -- not just the technical and creative but the personal aspect as well. Clients often comment on our effective blend of technical, business, and communication skills. These skills allows us to deliver effective applications and soften the learning curve for our clients.
I am a "veteran computer geek", and before the advent of the World-Wide-Web I used online bulletin boards to find various utilities and games. Online communities were just beginning, and there was an exciting sense of the future possibilities. I was drawn to the Net and I took to it like a duck to water. I explored the endless world of shared information, and indeed I still marvel at the miracle of the Internet, the tremendous growth of e-commerce and the new and vital role it has taken in our world. In late '95, equipped with a degree in business and computing, I heard the web's siren call. I answered it by forming a company (Web Marketing Group) with my friend as a partner. During our first year, I built the Visitor's Guide to WNC which provided extensive information about our area and provided a tremendous number of hits for the 75 beginner-level web sites that we created during this time. The Internet was so new! I recall how we pondered what percent of the population would have an email address, and whether the mainstream would feel comfortable using credit cards online. We got a huge number of hits from people everywere, and we felt the excitement of what was rapidly transforming business. The Net was booming all around us, and it was tough not to feel like we were missing the boat -- but we didn't. We saw our share of hairbrained ideas. I knew we needed to keep our heads screwed on straight, and that meant insisting on payment, going with reliable providers, and keeping our eyes peeled for target clients. Our ability to deliver effective solutions ultimately led to success. I believe this is because business relies on quality service and effective consulting in order to embrace the power of the Internet. Our target clients seek out trusted and capable firms to handle their array of online needs. io-sys was established in 1998 to deliver hosting, programming and consulting for small to mid-sized companies locally, nationally and abroad.

Breathe life into ideas
Since '95, I had a hand in a large number of web sites. Our focus is now on high-performance back-end database design for businesses that rely on delivery of clear project specifications.
Because of our creative diversity, we're responsible for a number of powerful software packages custom-built with modular LAMP code. These programs include innovative solutions for businesses that either would have paid much more for their software or needed custom programming to answer specific needs. Examples are a fee-for-access system for delivery of legal information to colleges, catalog and membership systems for e-learning resellers, retailers and gallery dealers, a POS (point of sale) and inventory posting system, contact management software, corporate stock accounting, automated reporting systems and various other custom e-commerce solutions.
